About LL
Love and Lullabies supports New-Born Mama’s! Without a doubt, you will discover invaluable tips and tricks that are backed by science and experiences. We were inspired by thousands of women’s tears of frustration, confusion, and loneliness when it comes to pregnancy recovery as a New-Born Mama. It is time to start an on-going conversation to explore this poorly charted territory of motherhood.
During the first 3 months after the baby is born, termed the fourth trimester, we experience many physical, hormonal, and emotional jumps. Without information, how do you know if your experiences are average or maybe due to a medical condition. As a result, Mama’s are confused. YES, the baby and their developmental milestones are important, but what about the recovery and health of the baby care-taker?
Fortunately, there is a plethora of information on the internet, or is there? Actually, after spending months searching journals and my medical textbooks, I realized, there is not much science-backed information for New-Born Mama’s.
Who is Dr. Lenny P.
My name is Dr. Lenny P. I completed my higher education degree, married in my late 20s, and relocated away from family and close friends. I birthed my first child at age 33 and my second when I was 35, or later in life. Despite my fortunate up-bringing, financial stability, and married relationship status, after my baby was born, I was absolutely CLUELESS!
I struggled to articulate to my husband, family, and friends what I was experiencing as a New-Born Mama, becuase I was ashamed. Hence, I did not want anyone to know that I was unusually sad, experienced heightened anxiety, hated by body, was in debilitating pain, and doubted my abilites as a mother. I was not sure what was normal or abnormal neither did I know who I should talk to. The mythical ‘women’s intuition’ never found its way to my door step, I sure would have loved some.
In a state of exhaustion, panic, anxiety, and frustration, I picked up the phone and called my sisters, mother, and friends. I had to break my silence and admit that I was ill-prepared for the transition into motherhood, and I needed help.
After I dismissed this mental picture of a well-dressed, bright-eyed, sexy mother and wife with a tidy home and well-behaved kids, I started to search for answers. An explaination had to exist for my physical, emotional, and hormonal changes. Sadley, I came up with more questions than helpful answers.
The Birth of LL
With every wives tale, personal opinion, and urban legend solution, I started to regain my footing. In a word, breathing-room! Importantly, I dismissed the expectation to perform at 110% all the time, this was an un-needed burden. I shifted my focus to healing and re-defining who I am as a Mama. Nonetheless, I learned to appreciate my stretch marks, changing skin texture, being a family of 4, and my new body. MY BIRTHING STORY! In fact, this was the birthing story of Love and Lullabies!
Everything that is offered is focused on the mother; enhancing the New-Baby Mama experience. I have a few jobs while I’m on this planet as a women, wife, mother, and a doctor: continuously have a ‘student-mentality’ eager to learn and extend it to others; prioritize my mental, spiritual, and physical health to nourish my direct and indirect family; and create a vibrant atmosphere filled with joy, love, and laughter.
Maybe you agree! As mothers, we are also transitioning similarly to our infants, but our transition is seldomly talked about. L&L is properly positioned with passion and love to help mothers navigate through the fourth trimester. In short, our focus is to support the transition from belly to baby and talk about taboo topics like sex, emotions, and hormones.
